
About the Role
LifeNet4Families seeks a full-time Outreach and Engagement Specialist who is interested in making a difference in the lives individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness in Broward County, Florida. The Outreach and Engagement Specialist will work directly with LifeNet’s Parking Lot Project , our recently launched initiative that provides social service support, case-management and wrap-around services to newly homeless individuals and families.

Requirements
Provide outreach, complete comprehensive and detailed intakes, assessments and care plans to individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness.
Assess and determine appropriate shelter/housing/service referrals when available.
Seek out and meet homeless clients living in areas not meant for human habitation (e.g. bus bench, park, beach) to establish a rapport and to promote homeless clients accessing LifeNet’s services.
Work cooperatively and establish relationships with service providers and people in the community to promote positive partnerships that will ensure and enhance services to homeless people living in their cars.
Provide ongoing case management and other supportive services to unsheltered and formerly homeless recently housed participants.
Provide accurate, detailed and timely documentation into the HMIS and ensure that each client is entered into HMIS within 72 hours of contact
Work collaboratively with colleagues and members of the Outreach Team to troubleshoot, address and resolve concerns around client engagement and challenging behaviors.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Other General Expectations
Sufficient hearing and speaking ability to be able to communicate in person or over the telephone.
Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
Sufficient manual dexterity and strength to organize, package, lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preference for a Bachelors’ degree in a related field -or-a minimum of two years’ experience working in homelessness or a related social service area.
A valid drivers license and good driving record.
Familiarity with Broward County geography and roadways a plus
Must be able to pass a Level II background check
Basic computer skills-the capacity to use a database, email, and internet.
Ability to work independently.
Task-oriented, non-judgmental and able to set clear boundaries
Possess the ability to work in a variety of setting with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals and families while remaining sensitive to their individuality
